Hazelwood Tennis Club recently came together to plant hedging along our courts that will grow and flourish to provide privacy for the courts, and to contribute to the biodiversity of our lovely countryside location. A combination of species were chosen for planting, and groups of our members swapped their tennis racquets for gardening tools, and got busy planting. After a couple of weeks, the new plants were given an additional spot of TLC, when their new and delicate root systems were strengthened with an extra layer of compost and topsoil, to protect against the impending snow and ice, and to give them every chance of survival.
Hazelwood Tennis Club are so very grateful to Cork County Council for allowing us to undertake this work with the provision of an €800 grant from the Cork County Council Community Fund Scheme in the 2024 Amenity Grant Section. This funding was invaluable to us, and our small club would have struggled to finance this project without it. Hazelwood Tennis Club committee is always striving to improve our facilities, and to provide our members with an ever-improving location in which to play their tennis. Togetheri with Cork County Council, and their excellent community supports, we hope to continue these endeavours in the years to come.
